Pastor Talmadge J. Thomas
About the Pastor:
Pastor Talmadge J'Von Thomas, a third-generation Pastor, was born on August 27, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio. He is the eldest of three sons born to Reverend Dr. W.C. Thomas and Mrs. Diane Thomas.
Pastorate and Family:
Pastor T.J. Thomas accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at the age of six. He accepted the call on his life to preach the gospel at the age of 14 and began pastoring the Antioch Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas at 23. He pastored the Antioch Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas for six years. In November of 1999, Pastor Thomas accepted the Senior Pastorate of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, Toledo, Ohio. He leads a congregation of 500 families, with more than 30 ministries.
In 2003, embracing the vision for the house, the City of Zion was birthed. The City of Zion includes a series of expansions over the next few years to include a business and spiritual complex. The City of Zion Campus is blessed to have Pastor Thomas as its resident theologian. Under his leadership, Mount Zion has grown numerically and spiritually.
In addition to his pastoral calling, Pastor Thomas also has a dynamic itinerant preaching ministry that extends across the United States. He is well known and sought after for his ability to proclaim God's Word with simplicity. Pastor Thomas serves in a number of capacities--Religious Affairs Coordinator for the NAACP (Toledo branch); Vice President at Large, Ohio Baptist State Convention.
Pastor Thomas' love for preaching, pastoring and people motivates him to touch every life he can for the kingdom. "Believing that my mission is to preach and teach the life-changing, time altering Word of the Living God in a great place like Toledo and the world, seeing people encouraged, empowered and enlightened... motivates me."
Pastor Thomas, together with his wife Aronda, loves and nurtures four beautiful children--Benjamin, TJ, Ausha and Nia.
